The distributive property
Printable practice with an answer key the engine computes, at three levels, in as many versions as you need.
Problem types
- a(x + b): 3(x + 4)
- a(x − b): 4(x − 2)
- the number first: a(b ± x): 3(4 − x)
- negative factor: −2(x + 3)
- negative factor, minus inside: −a(x − b): −2(x − 5)
- a(bx + c): 3(2x + 5)
- the number first: a(c ± bx): 3(5 − 2x)
- negative factor, a coefficient inside: −a(bx ± c): −3(2x − 7)
- distribute, then combine: 3(2x − 4) + 5x
- taking a group away: 7 − 2(3x + 1)
- two groups: 2(x + 3) − 4(x − 1)
